Rx for Props

Wed, 14 Mar 2007

Nothing ruins a day on the water faster than a spun prop. The sudden rise of engine rpm and concurrent loss of speed that tells you the prop hub has been damaged will put a knot in the stomachs of even the most experienced boaters. They know that to fix the problem they'll have to pull the prop and replace it with a spare -- which isn't always easy, since damaged props don't always slide easily off the prop shaft. If you can't remove your damaged prop, or as in most cases you don't own one, you may be waiting hours for an expensive tow back to the launch ramp. But it doesn't have to be that way. A Hank Parker's Prop-Aid‚Ѣ allows you to get underway in just minutes without having to remove the prop. Simply remove your lock nut and washer, insert the Hank Parker's Prop-Aid,  replace the nut and you are on your way.

What is the Hank Parker's Prop-Aid?  It is a specially designed sleeve made from marine grade aluminum that fits over the end of the exposed drive shaft and into the through-hub exhaust ports of the prop, allowing it to turn under power. Hank Parker's Prop-Aid is intended for temporary emergency use only, it is not intended as a permanent repair or as a replacement for a damaged prop; it is simply designed  to let you to operate the motor at up to 2,500 rpm -- so you can get back to the launch ramp. Best of all, the unit can be used over and over, so you'll never have to be stuck out on the water again. Currently, Hank Parker's Prop-Aid fits all factory 3-blade and 4-blade props.
